CONTRACT
(TERMS OF SERVICE)
By pairing your neural hardware with the NeuroNarratives application, you are entering into a legally binding agreement. These terms establish our liability, the unpredictable nature of the AI features, usage restrictions, and the scope of our software license.
I. NOT A
MEDICAL DEVICE
NeuroNarratives is an entertainment and focus-training artifact. It is strictly not a medical device, nor is it a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
While our system utilizes fNIRS to approximate hemodynamic changes and compute focus z-scores, we make zero claims regarding its efficacy in diagnosing or treating ADHD, anxiety, or any cognitive or neurological condition. Proceed at your own risk.
II. AI GENERATION &
UNPREDICTABILITY
This application streams textual content dynamically via a Large Language Model (LLM). Because the narrative is generated entirely on-the-fly based on your neural activity, the exact output is fundamentally UNPREDICTABLE.
We are not liable for any generated content that you may find distressing, offensive, or inappropriate. You acknowledge that AI output does not represent the views or opinions of the developers, University of Nottingham, or affiliated partners.
III. HARDWARE
DEPENDENCY
NeuroNarratives requires a third-party Mendi headband to function. We do not manufacture this hardware and hold no liability for hardware malfunctions, Bluetooth connectivity failures, skin irritation, or inaccuracies in the raw fNIRS data output.
- Any physical damage caused to or by the headband belongs to the hardware manufacturer's purview.
- We cannot guarantee infinite compatibility with future Mendi firmware updates.
IV. ABUSING THE SOFTWARE
& REVERSE ENGINEERING
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use the app entirely as intended.
- You agree to not reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise abuse the software's API or core code.
- Do not inject malicious activity or attempt to mass-generate stories via botting behaviors.
- We promise not to transmit malware, you promise not to target our servers or abuse our cloud infrastructure.
V. LIMITATION OF
LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law under the jurisdiction of England and Wales, the developers of NeuroNarratives (Team 31) are fully indemnified against any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of this software.
Our total aggregate liability under this agreement is strictly limited to the amount you paid (if any) to access the NeuroNarratives software application itself.
